Looking at a virus from a process specialist eyes you first need data. Let’s look at the data from Covid-19. It’s transmitted by water droplets that is expelled from a person’s mouth. It then enters the body through the nose, eyes, or mouth by breathing in or by touching surfaces the droplets fall on. So how do we stop it? We can isolate ourselves like we did, or block the virus from leaving the infected persons mouth. When it does leave an infected persons mouth you need to be far away from the person and wash your hands before ever touching your face. So is shutting down the economy to self-isolate the best answer? Is testing, testing, and more testing the right answer? Did you know that seatbelts reduce deaths by 50% and airbags reduce it further? People have been conditioned to wear seatbelts, and most of us do. Let’s look at masks at preventing the spread. Ask yourself, would you want to wear an inexpensive mask, or be out of work and get sick. We could have stopped the pandemic if every person wore a mask in public. I would have made it a $1000 fine if a person was caught without a mask in public. The federal government would supply the masks for free, and companies would be design better masks, fashion masks, and fun masks to wear. And best of all you would be still working. People say we should have the freedom to do what we want and not have to wear a mask. You do have the freedom to do what you want to yourself, if not using a mask only hurt yourself. You don’t have the freedom to do what you want that infects others. Just ask yourself, does a stranger have the right to cough into your face and give you a deadly virus because they have the right to do so? Then what gives you the right to do the same to someone else. Masks prevent this pandemic from taking hold. Masks would also have given us time to find a cure. Masks would have saved hundreds of thousands. We would then only be wearing them for a short while until the next pandemic comes, and it will.
People will say the masks don’t stop viruses because they are smaller than even the N95 mask can stop. This is true but it does stop the high concentrated water droplets.
